Forteeeeee

I remember being 12 & thinking when I am 16 then I will be able to drive. I will be old enuf. Then when I was 17, I wanted to be 21 in order to drink. Then I will be old enuf. At 22, I wanted to be 23 to be out of college & earning $$$$! At 23, I was ready to be old enuf for marriage. Are you getting the picture?

I relished my 30's. I never wanted 40 to come. Here I am. There aren't too many more milestones that I wish to achieve.

I now hope to keep lots of things. I hope to keep my body 'til I am at least 45. I would like to keep my eyesight a little longer. I hope to keep my money in order to eventually retire at 100. I would like to keep all of the greys out of my hair as long as possible.

It now seems like I am on the defensive & not the offensive.

I can make 40 sound like I am screeching at the end of it. Maybe that's just the brakes...

What & why am I over it at 40

All these years I have dreaded 40. I remember my mom being 40. I remember all of the 40 year olds already out there who I thought were way old. Well now I am here. I still hate it but I am over it.

I am 7 months into 40 & it has been a long haul to get here. Now that I am here, I can say "Woo-hoo"! I am so over so many things.

At 40, wrinkles are o.k. I remember visiting with high school friends a few years ago & was shocked at their wrinkles. Now I have the largest wrinkle of all in the middle of my forehead (see above). I have named it Gulliver because it keeps traveling. At 40 though, it belongs on my face. *I am not above Botox, I just have to afford Botox.

At 40, I can wear all of the bathing suits from a string bikini (because my bod is still good) all the way to an old ladies monstrosity & nobody cares.

At 40, I can order any drink at all & not look pretentious, silly or out-dated. I can drink martinis, margaritas or manhattans & nobody thinks a thing about it. Those are just the m drinks. I look good holding any one of those in my hand.

At 40, style is my style. I am a fashionista & I am not stuck in the eighties (even though it is coming back). I just have pieces that I have found through the years that make me into "me" and they never go out of style. I love my tunic straight from India or my basic black, fits-so-well turtleneck that never fails me. I love my Dansko close-backed clogs that go with most everything I own.

So I am over it at 40. I am me.

Tune in & see me "age" & stay "ageless" at the same time. It is magical!
